What is clearing?
Clearing matches students with no offers to places on university courses that haven't been filled.
It is a good option for undergraduate applicants that decide to change course after receiving their results or didn't achieve the conditions for their firm and insurance choice on UCAS. .You can also apply for clearing if you don’t receive any offers, or if you were holding an offer from a university, but did not meet their entry requirements on A-Level results day.
University clearing runs from July to October every year, enabling students to find a course that’s right for them.
How does clearing work?
You can go through clearing if:
- You have a UCAS undergraduate application with no offers
- Your exam results have been published
- You apply within the clearing dates for 2023 entry
The clearing process is incredibly straightforward. Simply figure out what course you would be interested in doing from the list above and call the dedicated clearing number to discuss it further with someone from UCEN Manchester. You will be given instructions for next steps once you have confirmed your interest in the course. Deciding which course to choose through clearing?
Is clearing first come first serve?
Yes, university clearing is first come first served. We recommend preparing and enquiring ahead of results day to understand your options and the offers that may be available to you. This will ensure you are well prepared for results day, so you know which clearing options you want to pursue.
Do I need UCAS for clearing?
Yes, you need UCAS to apply for clearing. You can see clearing options at your chosen university’s website, which will take you to UCAS website for the application process. If you need support on navigating the application process or would like to apply directly to UCEN Manchester please use our form to enquire or call 0161 674 7777.
