At UCEN Manchester, we learn by doing: practical projects, real industry links and opportunities on our doorstep across Greater Manchester and the wider North West.
This hub is here to support you from accepting your offer through to enrolment, induction and your first weeks on your course.
You don’t need to do everything at once. We’ll guide you step by step as you get ready to start.
What you’ll do next
You’ve received an offer — what happens next?
Receiving your offer is your first step in an exciting journey to develop creative and technical excellence in your chosen field. By joining us you’ll benefit from degree level study that is grounded in making, doing and developing your practice while working alongside others.
The next step is to respond to your offer.
- If you applied through UCAS, you’ll need to reply via UCAS Hub.
- If you applied directly, simply reply to your offer email.
There are different types of offers depending on your course and how you applied.
You can find a clear explanation of what your offer means, and what to do next, here: www.ucenmanchester.ac.uk/apply/applicant-hub/offer/
Once your offer is accepted, everything that follows is about preparing for your place and getting ready to start your course with confidence.
You’ve accepted an offer — what happens next?
Now that you have accepted your offer, your next steps are about preparing for your place and beginning your journey with us.
Over the coming months, your course team may reach out with invitations to student exhibitions, showcases, performances and events. These are a great way to get a feel for UCEN Manchester and the wider creative and professional scene here in the North West. There is absolutely no pressure to attend — but many students tell us it helps them feel more settled, confident and reassured before they start.
These events are also a great opportunity to see the standard of work our students produce, meet people from your course team, and start getting to know fellow students who may soon become friends and collaborators.
The steps below take you from accepting your offer through to starting your course. Work through them in your own time — you don’t need to complete everything in one go.
Student finance
Now that you have an offer, it’s a good time to start thinking about Student Finance. Doing this early can make enrolment much more straightforward and helps you feel fully ready to start. We recommend applying by 20 May, but if this date has already passed, don’t worry — just apply as soon as you can.
When completing your application, please note that our institution code is UCEN Manchester.
For step-by-step guidance, you can find a clear overview here: www.ucenmanchester.ac.uk/support/fees-and-finance/he/
We also run Understanding Student Finance online events, where our team can talk you through the process and answer any questions. Many students find these sessions reassuring and helpful, especially if this is their first time applying for Student Finance.
Accommodation
Many students choose to live in Manchester, while others who live nearby decide to commute. Both options work well — the choice is entirely yours.
Manchester is a vibrant student city, and accommodation can book up quickly — so we recommend starting your search early.
We work closely with Manchester Student Homes to help you find the perfect home whilst you're studying.
Manchester Student Homes will provide advice and support when you are looking for private accommodation, helping you find safe, high-quality accommodation and will help you should anything go wrong.
Accommodation AdviceStudent Support
From the moment you start exploring UCEN Manchester to the day you graduate (and beyond), we’re here to support you — every step of the way. And because we’re rooted in the North, that support is shaped by our community: welcoming, inclusive and focused on helping you progress.
As an offer holder, you already have access to our award winning support services. Many students use these before they arrive to ask questions, talk things through or simply get reassurance.
Some courses also adopt a mentoring approach, and you may be contacted by a current student mentor who can answer questions and share their experience of life on the course.
We also run a range of support and preparation events to help you feel confident and ready to start. You are welcome to explore what’s on and book anything that feels helpful for you.

Timetables are shared later in the summer, but it’s important that you’re available for Welcome and Induction Week, which will begin on Monday 7 September, unless you’re told otherwise.
This week includes course inductions and a full programme of welcome and social events designed to help you settle in, meet your course team and get to know your fellow students.
Some courses may also have kit lists or specialist requirements (for example, uniform). We also recommend having basic stationery ready, such as notebooks, pens and a laptop.
If you’d like an early indication of your course timetable, you can contact your Programme Leader directly. Please note that full-time course timetables can run across the full week (Monday to Friday). Unless you’ve been advised otherwise, it’s best to be prepared to attend on any day.
