Council Tax
Most full-time students do not have to pay Council Tax, but this depends on who you live with.
- Living only with other full-time students? Your property is usually exempt.
- Living with someone who isn't a full-time student? They may be entitled to a Council Tax discount, or Council Tax may still be payable.
- On a low income? You may be able to apply for a Council Tax Reduction through your local council.
You'll usually need to provide your local council with proof of your student status. If you live in student halls, Council Tax is normally dealt with automatically.
