Students Out of Their Comfort Zone for Employability Skills

Third year sports students take on the Challenge 4 Change

Challenge 4 Change team building course saw students complete a wide range of activities

Third year students on our BSc School Sports and Sports Coaching course have taken part in a unique team building session delivered by a local charity, Challenge 4 Change.

Challenge 4 Change ‘provides team building courses to enable people to acquire skills, knowledge and understanding of both themselves and others through experience in a unique and engaging way’.

The day was a huge success and saw our students complete a wide range of activities which challenged them both physically and mentally. Staff at Challenge 4 Change lead our students through a tailored course which included both ground and aerial obstacles and encouraged the development of teamwork, problem-solving and communications skills.

Our students demonstrated the ability to think on their feet and adapt to different environments, encouraging one another to rise to the vary challenges.

Our students have lots of fun completing the activities, but there is a serious element to the challenges.

Our tutor James Barraclough said: “We have been working with Challenge 4 Change for about five years now and we continue to put on the sessions because they’re different and engaging."

"Our students have lots of fun completing the activities, but there is a serious element to the challenges. The sessions the charity deliver take our students outside their comfort zones and provide the knowledge and experience our students will require if they are to achieve and progress into their chosen career’.”
