Societies, Events and Campaigns
The clubs and societies at UCEN Manchester reflect our diversity and the passion of our students.
Our student societies are a huge part of campus life and a great way to meet people, try something new and get involved outside of your course. Whether you want to explore a hobby, build confidence, or just find like-minded people, there’s a society for you.
Our clubs and societies
We currently have a growing range of student-led societies, including:
Creative Collective Society
Sports Society
AniGame Society
Open Mic Society
Tech Society
A hub for students interested in technology, innovation and digital skills.
Our societies are student-led, which means members can help shape activities, organise events and build valuable leadership and teamwork skills along the way. It’s also a brilliant way to gain experience, boost your confidence and make lasting friendships.
Can’t find a society that matches your interests? You can even start your own with support from the Students’ Union. No matter your experience level, everyone is welcome.
Events
We run loads of events throughout the year, including free hot meals, free fruit and veg giveaways, craft workshops, themed movie marathons and much more.
All students are welcome to get involved in any events we host. Many of our events also include giveaways and free raffles, with prizes ranging from everyday essentials to bigger items like air fryers and heated blankets.
To keep up to date with upcoming events, follow us on Instagram @su_ucen or speak to a member of the Students’ Union about joining the Teams page.
Campaigns
Our campaigns run throughout the year and focus on the issues that matter most to students. For 2025–2026, we focused on mental health and wellbeing, as well as Cost of Living pressures — all areas highlighted by students themselves.
Swap Shop
Our year-round Swap Shop, based in the CCM Library, gives students a simple and sustainable way to refresh their wardrobe.
Students can donate pre-loved clothes or items they no longer need and browse items donated by others — completely free of charge.
The Swap Shop helps promote sustainability, reduce waste, and support students who may not have the budget for buying new clothes. Whether you’re looking for everyday essentials, an outfit for a special occasion, or just want to try a new style, the Swap Shop is open to everyone.
Students are welcome to donate clean, good-quality items at any time to help keep the space stocked for the wider student community.
