A 3D Game Art and VFX student at UCEN Manchester has been selected for the prestigious Royal Television Society (RTS) Bursary Scheme.
Zeno Petrou, who is in his second year of the course, is one of 11 scholars to be selected under the highly-competitive Digital Innovation category.
Under the Bursary Scheme, Zeno will be provided with:
When he graduates, Zeno will also be given the opportunity to access the recently-launched RTS Mini MBA, a pioneering industry-led online course which provides a comprehensive business understanding of the television and streaming media sector.
Responding to the news, Zeno said:
When I found out I'd been selected, I felt electric, like a dream come true. The possibilities it opens up are truly life changing, from mentors to funding and networking with everyone involved.
“Anyone who is on the fence about not applying; nothing ventured, nothing gained. It will truly change your life.”
Since the first RTS Bursary Scheme was launched in 2013, it has supported nearly 350 students from lower-income backgrounds, with 82% of graduates securing employment within TV and related industries.
Ben Elson, Programme Leader for 3D Game Art and Zeno’s personal tutor, added:
We are delighted for Zeno as the scheme opens up so many opportunities to him that will help him launch a career in this highly competitive sector.
“The RTS bursary is highly coveted and sought after so for Zeno to have been selected for the scheme is a real testament to his skill and potential. We’re now looking forward to seeing how Zeno progresses on his course and working with him to support him to progress into a career in the sector.”
