The Arden School of Theatre has launched a professional relationship with Manchester’s Contact theatre.

The Arden School of Theatre has launched a unique artistic and educational relationship with Manchester’s Contact theatre.

Students on the BA (Hons) Theatre and Performance at The Arden, part of UCEN Manchester, will now be able to work closely with one of the region’s most innovative and experimental theatres.

The relationship will provide students with an exclusive link to the professional industry at a venue which has a legacy of supporting young people in making new, innovative, and experimental theatre and performance.

As part of this relationship, Contact will deliver a series of masterclass sessions to students, exploring artistic direction, programming, marketing, and production. It will also host The Arden’s annual unTaPped performance festival in May.

Wayne Steven Jackson, Head of Theatre and Performance, said: “This relationship with Contact marks an exciting development for BA (Hons) Theatre and Performance.

It will provide our students with invaluable opportunities and experiences.

"As we move into our sixth year, and after achieving 100 per cent student satisfaction in the National Student Survey, this partnership will support our journey to becoming the premiere course in the country for creative performers and theatre makers."

Matt Fenton, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of Contact, said: “Contact and The Arden School of Theatre have enjoyed a close relationship for many years.

“It’s really exciting to take that further by developing our partnership over the coming years to include hosting end of year student shows and providing professional industry course enhancement.”
