UCEN Manchester's theatre school makes the grade

The Arden School of Theatre has been featured in leading industry publication The Stage as one of the top drama schools in the UK.

The publication listed The Arden, part of UCEN Manchester, as joint leader for BA Acting courses based on the latest National Student Survey (NSS), which saw students give The Arden a 100 per cent overall satisfaction rating. This placed The Arden in joint top spot along with five other institutions, including the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

The Stage also listed The Arden as fourth top drama school for overall NSS student satisfaction, tying with the Guildford School of Acting at 92 per cent.

Rob Owen, Head of The Arden, said: “We are delighted that the students have rated us as 100 per cent Overall Satisfaction. This is testament to the hard work and dedication shown by the team, ensuring their curriculum is continuously responding to the needs of the industry and of the students.”

Michael Walsh, Dean of UCEN Manchester, said: “The Arden being featured as one of the best in the UK by a prestigious publication such as The Stage is fantastic and is a great way of showcasing the brilliant feedback we’ve had from our students in this year’s NSS results.”

The NSS is conducted by the Office for Students and surveys 403 universities and colleges across the UK. For overall satisfaction, the average in 2019 was 84 per cent, according to The Stage.
