Five lucky students have benefitted from a share of a £10,000 bursary after UCEN Manchester won the Student Support category in the Whatuni? Student Choice Awards last year.
The chosen students all overcame barriers to achieve their dreams and their determination to succeed made them all worthy recipients of the bursary.
Two of the students’ stories have been highlighted in a video created by Whatuni?
The student judging panel named UCEN Manchester winner in the Student Support category at the Whatuni? Student Choice Awards 2021, for providing outstanding student support during the pandemic, in addition to its existing initiatives. Initiatives highlighted included curriculum and mental health support, practical support for students needing IT assistance or additional financial help, and the creation of an online Summer School.
Michael Walsh, Dean of UCEN Manchester said: “To receive the award for Student Support in last year’s awards was fantastic and a real testament to the hard of work and dedication of the whole team.
“We are delighted that the award will have a direct positive impact on our students, who have faced some enormous challenges this last year. The resilience of these five students has shown they are worthy recipients of the bursaries, which will make a lasting difference to their learning experience and future.”
