Register to vote!
UCEN Manchester students are being reminded to register to vote before 26 November.
With the next General Election scheduled for Thursday 12 December 2019, UCEN Manchester is reminding students to check that they are registered to vote.
The deadline for registering to vote is Tuesday 26 November. It only takes five minutes to register to vote if you’re not already on the electoral roll, have recently moved house or want to change to a postal/proxy vote this time.
You can register to vote up until 11.59pm on Tuesday 26 November, but anyone wanting to register for a postal vote, or for a proxy vote, must do so by 5pm on Tuesday 26 November.
To vote in a General Election you must:
- be registered to vote
- be 18 or over on the day of the election (‘polling day’)
- be a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen
- be resident at an address in the UK (or a British citizen living abroad who has been registered to vote in the UK in the last 15 years)
- not be legally excluded from voting.
