Students attend the Photo North Festival
UCEN Manchester Students from the Contemporary Photographic Practices course and their peers from The Manchester College’s Photography Course, recently attended Photo North Festival in Harrogate, Yorkshire.
Some of the most internationally renowned photographers were exhibiting including John Bolloten and Homer Sykes, who both chatted to our students at length about their work and were very impressed with the levels of knowledge and engagement students demonstrated.
Alongside a wide range of exhibitions, the students were able to view limited edition books and prints on stalls, take part in workshops and portfolio reviews and listen to various artist lectures and presentations.
Andrew Moseley, Media Tutor at UCEN Manchester said: “Both UCEN Manchester and The Manchester College students will benefit greatly from experiencing other photographers work, especially that of such highly reputable artists. It allows students to widen their imaginations and consider approaches to the practice of evaluating, reading and understanding photographs.
It was great to see the students come together on this trip and support each other’s development through shared ideas and perspectives. I think we can expect to see some exciting collaborative projects across our courses soon.
