So, you’re considering a Top-up degree?  Great!  We will answer all of your questions and help you decide if a Top-up degree is the right choice for you.

What is a Top-up degree, exactly?

A Top-up degree refers to a qualification that can be completed on top of an existing Level 5 qualification.  This can be done either through part-time or full-time study, depending on your needs and circumstances.

A Top-up degree can help you take your career to the next level.  If you're already working in your chosen field or planning to change professions, a Top-up degree can provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to be successful.

Why should you consider a Top-up degree?

There are many reasons why a Top-up degree is an excellent choice for anyone looking to gain an additional qualification and advance their career.  Some of the potential benefits include:

  • Increased career prospects and earning potential
  • Flexible study options, including part-time and full-time study
  • Access to specialised knowledge and training in your chosen field.

What courses are available?

The perfect route for you may be a Level 6 Top-up degree with us and we offer courses in the following areas:

If a subject area doesn’t have a specific Top-up but we do teach it, you may still be able to join the final year of a Bachelors degree and Top-up your Level 5 qualification this way.  You’ll be asked for a record of prior learning, which we will then map to the equivalent units or modules we teach during the first and second years of our Bachelors degree.

What are the entry requirements for a Top-up degree?

In general, Top-up degrees are available to anyone who has successfully completed a Level 5 qualification, including a Foundation Degree (FdSc or FdA) or Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognised university or college.  However, Top-up degrees may have additional requirements, such as work experience, records of prior learning or minimum grades.

If you have completed a Level 5 qualification, consider enrolling on one of our Level 6 Top-up programmes and you could walk away with a full honours degree in just one year!

It’s important to check the eligibility requirements for the Top-up degree course you're interested in to ensure that you meet all of the necessary criteria. If you’re unsure about anything, just contact ucenadmissions@ucenmanchester.ac.uk.

What is the cost of a Top-up degree?

The cost of a Top-up degree can vary widely depending on the course and institution you choose.  Some Top-up degrees are delivered exclusively online, while others require you to attend classes or complete work placements.

If you’re looking to finance your Top-up degree, there are many options available.  These include taking out a student loan or using income from your existing job to help cover tuition costs.

How long does a Top-up degree take?

Depending on the Top-up degree course that you choose, it can typically be completed in one year full-time or two years part-time.  Some Top-up degrees may also offer flexible study options, such as online learning.

If you’re considering a Top-up degree, do your research to find the right course for your needs and goals.  With the right preparation and planning, you can achieve great results and take your career to new heights!
