Visitors explored the degree level courses and study options available
A warm welcome was in store for Higher Education students and their families who headed to UCEN Manchester’s Openshaw campus for its open event on Saturday 24 November.
Visitors looking to find their future with UCEN Manchester took time to talk to tutors from across all subject areas, including Access to Higher Education, Criminology and Social Justice, and Sport and Exercise Science, and learn more about the degree level courses and study options available.
Activities included a range of demonstrations from Make-Up Artistry and Special Effects students, and an informative talk in the lecture theatre about navigating UCAS.
Kate Winnard, from Chorley, attended to find out more about a Foundation degree in Make-Up Artistry. She said: “I’ve already got a Level 2 in Hair and Make-up but I wanted to get a higher level qualification. UCEN Manchester has the specialised course I’m interested in, plus its location is a huge bonus.”
Hannah Walledge travelled from Lincolnshire to get extra details about the BA Hons Musical Theatre course at UCEN Manchester’s Arden School of Theatre. She said: “I came to the Open Day because I’m interested in what the course offers, and I wanted to get a feel of UCEN Manchester.”
Mum Charley Walledge said: “I’m really pleased with the smaller scale of the organisation and that it feels really personal.”
Michael Walsh, Vice Principal and Dean, met with future students on the day and said: “This event was the best so far and there was lots of interest from visitors. We held our graduation ceremony at The Bridgewater Hall just a few days earlier, so it was great to be back at the start of the learning journey with future students who will leave as graduates in a few years’ time.
A special thank you goes to our tutors who worked so well together to share their knowledge, answer all questions, and give visitors a really warm welcome and memorable Open Day experience.
