Hosted by BAFTA award winning writer Phil Mealey (Royle Family, Early Doors) you will learn how stories are developed, new ideas generated, characters defined, and distinctive dialogue spoken using examples and clips from his own award winning works.
Once you've planned and created your compelling narrative you'll be shown to present it in a professional format that will engage producers and commissioners alike.

Phil Mealey is a British actor, writer, and producer from Stockport. He is best known for co-writing and associate-producing the acclaimed BBC sitcom Early Doors alongside Craig Cash. In addition to his behind-the-scenes work, Mealey also starred in the series, portraying the character Duffy. His collaboration with Cash earned them two North West Comedy Awards in 2005 for their exceptional writing and acting.
Phil’s career extends beyond Early Doors. He was the executive producer of the popular series The Cafe and has contributed to other notable projects such as The Royle Family. Phil, along with Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash, co-wrote and appeared in the BAFTA award-winning episode of The Royle Family titled ‘The Queen of Sheba’ in 2006. Recently, he has been involved in the Early Doors arena tour, bringing the beloved sitcom to live audiences across the UK. His versatility and talent have made him a respected figure in the British comedy scene.
