The Centre of Excellence for Medical Sciences is based at the CityLabs laboratory complex, in the heart of Manchester’s Knowledge Quarter.

It is home to our School of Medicine, Health Sciences, and Medical Engineering. Courses are Access to Higher Education Diplomas for adult students (aged 19 or above), and will prepare you to apply for Dentistry, Health, Medical Engineering, Medicine, and Pharmacy subjects at degree level.

Located off the hustle and bustle of Oxford Road, there are a host of supermarkets nearby for your convenience. Whitworth Park is within walking distance, and is home to Whitworth Art Gallery, boasting a collection of over 55,000 pieces. The gallery sits within 18 acres of green space that runs along Oxford Road, towards Rusholme. The Contact Theatre and Manchester Academy are also close by, as are 20 listed buildings in the Victoria Park area, including Victoria Baths.

Did you know? Some of the greatest thinkers of the last century were inspired on and around Oxford Road – innovations developed along the road include the original testing of ‘The Baby’, the first programmable computer, and the first splitting of the atom.

Oxford Road is also renowned for the number of buses running along it day and night. Major bus routes include 14, 16, 41, 42, 43, 43a, 44, 45a, 47, 48, 50, 87, 111, 140, 142, 143, 147, 157, 197, 250, 291. St Peter’s Square Metrolink station is at the top of Oxford Street, around 15-20 minutes’ walk from the campus. Oxford Road railway station is under 15 minutes’ walk from the campus.

Car Parking

There are local car parks used by visitors to the hospitals but we would advise using public transport where possible.
