Bill is a retired Police Inspector and has completed 30 years of exemplary service in the force. During his police service, he worked in several specialist departments including public order policing and Intelligence as well as uniform operational work. He also has experience of firearms and plain clothes operations.
With over 25 years teaching and training experience, Bill first started teaching within the police as a trainer delivering self-defence and public order training. He became qualified in classroom teaching and trained new recruits while working as a Sergeant.
Towards the end of his police career as an Inspector, Bill was responsible for running the Greater Manchester police leadership training unit. After leaving the police, he worked in a high school as a cover teacher and for the last seven years in colleges and universities delivering public services, policing and criminology courses.
He said: “My favourite thing about the subject area I teach in is all aspects of the criminal justice system and how changes take place due to political ideology and public attitudes.”
In his free time, Bill’s passions include amateur football, both playing and now coaching and managing. He is currently Chairman of a large and successful amateur club in Bury.
