Future U Student Support team shines spotlight on importance of student wellbeing

To mark University Mental Health Day, our Future U Student Support team organised a series of wellbeing activities at City Campus Manchester, which were available to all current UCEN Manchester students and included everything from therapy sessions to pilates and human bingo.

The team also seized the opportunity to highlight the important work of the student mental health charity Student Minds.

#UniMentalHealthDay takes place annually and aims to get the whole nation talking about student mental health. While Student Minds is a national charity that empowers students to build their own mental health toolkit to support themselves and their peers through their higher education journeys and beyond.

Annette McCone, our Head of Student Advice, Support and Wellbeing, said: "University Mental Health Day is a vital opportunity to showcase the importance of student wellbeing and at UCEN Manchester we are committed to ensuring that every student feels supported, heard, and empowered to seek help when needed. “By working together as a community and supporting initiatives like those led by Student Minds, we can break down barriers, challenge stigma, and create an environment where everyone can thrive."

One student spoke about the invaluable support she has received from our Wellbeing Officer, saying: “Her wisdom and fantastic sense of humour have helped me through some of the most challenging times during my studies. She has truly been a dedicated advocate, which I am forever grateful for. I enjoyed our meetings and will miss them once I've left UCEN Manchester.”

Whatever stage you’re at in your education or journey; everyone needs support sometimes. Our team will work tirelessly to provide additional support, guidance and advice wherever it’s needed.
