Ever thought of getting into teaching?

Our Access courses prepare people without traditional qualifications for careers in Higher Education.

Access to HE, Teacher Training course is an academic and vocational course, which features school placements, a blend of key National Curriculum (English and History) and relevant core education units including Practical Teaching Skills, Lesson Preparation, Learning Difficulties, Assessment Strategies and Attainment.

The course also includes a CRB/DBS Check, preparation for the QTS Skills Test component and a Micro-Teach in which students plan, prepare and deliver a lesson to their peers.

Sebastian Forbes, a student who has now completed the Access to HE, Teacher Training course, said: “Debi and Shelley, the ‘dynamic duo’ who lecture the course, are amazing. They gave me the confidence to believe in myself and are truly the best mentors you could ask for.

Supportive, understanding, motivational and, above all, they believe in each and every student. They are a true credit to the profession and if I am half as good as them in my teaching career, I will be happy!

This course has an impressive 100 per cent pass rate, with all students gaining university places, and also agreeing that their tutors have good knowledge of the course.

Michelle Tocher, Director of Access (Higher Education), said: “I am particularly delighted that our students show so much dedication to an amazing career. We know it isn’t an easy choice but if you want to make a difference and you know you can make learning fun, Teacher Training is for you.”
