Proud Umar sees hard work pay off

A visit to an Open Day was all it took to convince Umar Abid to study at UCEN Manchester. One year later, he’s graduating with a first class honours degree in Software Development, an achievement he is rightly proud of.

We caught up with Umar to talk about his highlights and next steps.
 

Why did you choose to study at UCEN Manchester?

The reason I chose UCEN Manchester is that one of my friends recommended it to me. I came with him to an Open Day and I really liked the atmosphere.
 

How do you feel now you have achieved your qualification?

I feel so proud. I’ve put a lot of hard work to try and get a first class degree.
 

How did you find your time studying with us?

I really enjoyed my time here because the tutors are very helpful and my classmates were friendly as well.
 

What was the best thing about studying with us?

The tutors are very helpful and friendly. They are always willing to help, during the academic year and outside of that too. For example, if you need any support over the summer. 
 

Following completion of your course what will you do next?

Next I’m looking for a Software Development role and I’ve already got a few interviews lined up.
 

What are your long term career aspirations?

My career aspirations are to become a Software Developer and then long term, work as a Senior Software Developer.
 

Would you recommend UCEN Manchester to other people and why?

I would definitely recommend UCEN Manchester because all the tutors and staff a really friendly and they are always willing to help in any way possible.
