After completing a BSc (Hons) (Top-up) in Software Development, achieving a fantastic 2:1 classification, Moeez Abdul has plans to become a senior software developer, and is even eyeing up industry leadership roles with a view to setting up his own business in the future.

We spoke to Moeez all about his time at UCEN Manchester, and his next steps and career goals.

I chose to study at UCEN Manchester due to its excellent reputation for providing practical and industry-focused education. In addition, the course curriculum was a perfect fit for my passion and career goals in software development.

I feel a great sense of accomplishment and pride in achieving my qualification. The dedication and hard work invested in my studies at UCEN Manchester has paid off, and I am excited to apply my learning to real-world projects.

I also appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with fellow students and engage in group projects, fostering teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Following completion of your course, what will you do next?

In addition to job applications, I am actively pursuing online certifications through platforms like freeCodeCamp and Codecademy. These certifications provide me with valuable knowledge and skills and demonstrate to employers that I am continuously investing in my professional growth and staying updated with the latest industry practices.

To further enhance my candidacy, I will be working on personal projects. One of my immediate priorities is creating my own portfolio website, where I can showcase the projects I completed at UCEN Manchester. This portfolio will serve as a testament to my practical skills and the application of theoretical knowledge. It will help me stand out from other candidates and provide employers with a clear understanding of my capabilities.

My post-course plans involve a proactive approach to job applications, continuous learning through online certifications, and developing a compelling portfolio that highlights my expertise and experience gained at UCEN Manchester.
 

What are your long-term career aspirations?

My long-term career aspirations encompass continuous growth and advancement in software development, both personally and professionally. I am committed to continually improving my mental and technical skills to enhance my abilities daily. In the coming years, I strive to become a senior software developer, taking on more complex and challenging projects that will further expand my expertise and contribute to my professional development.

Additionally, I am keenly interested in exploring industry leadership roles. I aspire to become a mentor and inspire other aspiring developers, sharing my knowledge and experiences to foster their growth and success. By assuming leadership responsibilities, I aim to contribute to the industry's growth and development by cultivating a collaborative and innovative work culture.

Furthermore, I have an entrepreneurial drive and a strong desire to establish my startup business in software development. This aspiration stems from my passion for the field and the desire to create innovative solutions that address real-world challenges. By building and leading my venture, I aim to make a meaningful impact on the industry while achieving personal and professional success.
