Overview

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is an advanced qualification that has been specifically designed for beauty therapists.

The VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments is a vocationally related qualification and is focused on reducing hair growth and photo rejuvenation of the skin using intense pulse light and laser treatments. This qualification requires you to develop skills to carry out IPL and laser treatments. This qualification allows you to gather evidence in a realistic working environment or real working environment without the need for fee paying clients.

This qualification will require research; it includes the skills involved in providing a thorough consultation with the client to formulate a specific course of treatment, tailored to suit individual client needs, use laser and light treatments for skin rejuvenation and hair removal and to manage the health, safety and security of the salon

Entry on to this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Beauty qualification at level 3.
Plus:
• GCSE English grade 4 or above/Level 2 English
• GCSE Maths grade 4 or above/ Level 2 Maths is desirable.

As part of this qualification, you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence, which confirms the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format.

Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:

• Observed work
• Witness statements
• Audio-visual media
• Evidence of prior learning or attainment
• Written questions
• Oral questions
• Assignments
• Case studies

All the books required for the course are available from the library. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents.

• You may wish to purchase digital storage device up to 1TB at an approximate cost of £50
• Access to a computer/laptop is essential for home study. The college has onsite computers in the library.
• Students undertaking Laser and Light units are required to purchase a uniform (details provided at enrolment).
