Overview
The course has been developed and focused as an effective means of entry onto our specialist Foundation Degree in Make-up Artistry or Special Effects Make-up Artistry programmes.
Students on this programme will develop a host of practical skills such as; how to use a camera effectively in a studio and on location, design and apply character make-ups, postiche skills, and developing highly sought after skills within prosthetic art.
The content of the programme encourages students to produce innovative ideas in visual imagery, explore creativity and link to the needs of the media make-up industry. The programme will prepare students to engage and work as artistic practitioners across a broad range of artistic makeup, including a variety of TV and media environments, theatre and photographic sectors, as well as preparing them to be an independent practitioner/artist.
Make-up artists in this region are highly sought after due to the BBC Media City at Salford Quays and the redevelopment of ITVs Granada Studios, which provide our learners with excellent opportunities to gain significant work experience.
