The purpose of Pearson BTEC Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice (Nursing and Healthcare Support pathway) is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the healthcare sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Healthcare Practice (Nursing and Healthcare Support pathway) offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience through the selection of specialist optional units This effectively builds underpinning core and specialist skills while preparing the student for further progression to Level 5.
Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in evidence-based practice, personal research, self-study, directed study and workplace learning and experience.

The Pearson BTEC Level 4 HNC in Healthcare Practice (Nursing Healthcare Support Pathway) provides a generalist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the health and social care sector and also offers particular specialist emphasis through the choice of optional units.
BTEC Level 4 HNCs provide a nationally recognised qualification offering career progression and professional development for those already in employment and opportunities to progress into higher education.
The qualification comprises of 120 credits made up from 7 different units, and completion/submission of a Practical Learning and Assessment Development Portfolio is a core requirement of this programme.
This course is supported by focused study in areas of health and social care including specially designed units. You will be given the opportunity to develop and contribute to the health and social care environment through the combination of the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the programme. The course includes 225 hours mandatory work experience in an occupationally relevant setting, and you will be supported in developing practice-based competencies by Tutors/Assessors and designated Workplace Mentors.
