Overview
If you’ve completed the first semester of this Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) course, you’ll be well placed to continue onto this second stage of the programme and continue to advance your skills and knowledge in computer networks and engineering.
In this second semester of the CCNA course – Routing and Switching Essentials – you’ll explore the architecture, components and operations of routers and switches in a small network, as well as learning how to configure a router and a switch for basic functionality.
By the end of this course, you will be able to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches and resolve common issues in a range of areas - including with RIPv1, RIPv2, single-area and multi-area OSPF, EIGRP, virtual LANs, and inter-VLAN routing in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. You will also have the ability to configure the operations and benefits of link aggregation and Cisco VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP).

Academic Entry requirements
There are no formal requirements for this Cisco Networking course, but you should ideally have Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent) in English and Maths to gain the most from the programme.
How will I be assessed?
Throughout the duration of the course, you’ll complete 11 online tests in class, one final online exam and one final work-based practical exam.
When you complete both semester one and two, you’ll be able to take the professional CCENT exam and, if you complete all four semesters, you can take the full professional exam for CCNA.
